MARCH 2011, Nusa Dua - It is amazing how sometimes nature seems to be able to do things that are beyond our wildest imagination. One of these miraculous phenomenon is how sea turtles find their way back to the very same beach where they hatched to lay eggs of their own.

On the wee hours of the morning of March 30th, Nikko Bali Resort and Spa's associates discover a new turtle nest on the beach of the resort. The nest hosts 81 eggs, believed to be the Olive Ridley species (Lepidochelys Olivacea), the most common species found along Nusa Dua and Tanjung Benoa area. Each of these eggs was carefully removed to a safer place where a fence and removable shades have been installed. The eggs are expected to hatch late May 2011. In the meantime, the environment team of the resort will keep a close watch the nest ensuring proper care is extended.

Nikko Bali Resort and Spa has done 7 turtle releases and this will be another environmentally friendly activity that the resort has pledged to do with its "Nikko Bali Goes Green" campaign. This year, Nikko Bali Resort and Spa was awarded the Eco Hotel certification, being the first hotel in Bali to receive this prestigious award. Alongside this certification, the resort has also received two ASEAN Green Hotel Standard awards.
