Nikko Bali Resort and Spa pampers all its Club guests with an in room entertainment system

Ipod Dock

One said that the universal language of the world is music. People can tap into it emotionally regardless of the language used in the song. It has powers of its own - some even say it can heal one's illness - and enjoyed by all.

Taking music another STEP UP, Nikko Bali Resort and Spa recently installed iPod docks in all of its 73 Nikko Club rooms. The docking entertainment system will feature an iPod dock that can play all your favorite tunes while charging your iPod, it also features a USB direct playback and DC digital radios for great selection of music and a progressive volume alarm for a gentle wake-up call with your favorite song or radio station. The device is also pre-loaded with relaxation music to help you relax or fall asleep. Simply choose from rain showers, ocean waves, spa music and more to enjoy in relaxed comfort.

Aside from this, guests of Nikko Club can enjoy more pampering in the exclusive Nikko Club Lounge. A contemporary lounge and dining space, was launched in August 2007. It incorporates a stylish outdoor swimming pool surrounded by a timber deck; a semi-open dining area bordered by half panes of frosted glass; and an indoor glass-enclosed fully air-conditioned lounge providing seamless ocean views. Guests can expect premium facilities and services, such as all-day a la carte dining and refreshments, complimentary Wi-Fi Internet, and mini library of best selling books.

How to cook everything, Chris' way

Christopher John Patzold

When it comes to a world where technique plays a big part in one's career, you can only expect to have the best from someone with more than 20 years experience. But it is not always about the technique for Christopher John Patzold, it is so much more.

Chris attended the Box Hill College back in his homeland, Australia where he sort of fell into the world of cooking. "I cannot really remember how I started, my mom and I just sort of fell into the hospitality". He tried brick laying at first but then decided to start a dishwashing job before an apprenticeship was offered to him and took him to where he is today.

Arriving in Bali 10 years ago, Chris had the honor of being the opening team of the now famous dining venue in Bali, Kudeta. "It was magnificent, I've never seen so many rice fields before" he said when asked of his first impression of the island, "Now Bali has grown so much and it never cease to amaze me".

After Kudeta, Chris went to Jakarta to take charge of a Pan Asian fine dining restaurant before coming back to Bali and join the well-known Canggu Club for 2 years. He then worked at Sentosa Private Villas and Spa for nearly 3 years. There, he took charge of Blossom, a modern Australian (global) restaurant with Asian/Thai twist, the villas' in room dining, conference facilities and the catering.

Over the years he spent in Indonesia, especially in Bali, he is always inspired to help others achieve their dreams, "I've seen one or two of the people I worked with now gracing the cover of a magazine with a medal and a big smile on their face. They have really kicked on in the hospitality industry". Having gone through so many unique experiences on the island, he finds it difficult to leave. "Whenever the chance comes to leave, something always holds me back and another opportunity arises". For Chris, Bali is not just a work place; the island has now become a part of him, as he proudly says "Bali is my life".

Chris Patzold is now the Executive Chef of Nikko Bali Resort and Spa. He will be overseeing 4 restaurants and other outlets, including the resort's signature restaurant, The Shore.

Two sea turtle nests discovered on Nikko Bali Resort and Spa's beach

save turtle

Nusa Dua, June 10th, 2010 - Sea turtles are one of the world's most bizarre creatures; it has the unique instinct to lay their eggs on the same beach where they hatched. Hunted for their meat, shells and, unfortunately, their eggs as well (considered delicacies for some), this species' population is quickly dwindling and facing extinction. With a very slim chance of surviving (0.01% from one nest) in the wild, world organizations and environmentalists have been taking actions to protect known nests to help increase sea turtle population around the world.

Located on the shore of the Indian Ocean, Nikko Bali Resort and Spa has been very lucky to be able to take part in helping this creature by protecting nests over the years. Recently the associates of Nikko Bali Resort and Spa found two nests just at the beach of The Shore Restaurant and Bar. Immediate actions were taken including erecting protective fences around the perimeter of the nests. It is now just a matter of time before these eggs hatch and gives birth to another generation of sea turtles that will once again roam the ocean. Expected to hatch early August, this will be an exciting moment for both guests and Nikko’s associates.

A single act to save a life, another STEP UP taken by Nikko Bali Resort and Spa.

This tradition is what the world known gourmet club, Cordon Noir, tries to establish: great food, great friends and traveling. Their program for 2010 is called the Cordon Noir South East Asian Summer that will take place in Singapore and here on the Island of the Gods from June 6th to 12th. About Cordon Noir

Cordon Noir Gourmet Society (, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary at The Equatorial Hotel in Penang, is a most unusual society. It has one lifetime membership fee and there must always be caviar available at every meal attended by its members. Founder and president Jochen Kern, said the Cordon Noir Gourmet Society was a camaraderie club.

It was established in 1988 by a group of non, semi and professional gourmet that simply enjoys good food. Their regulation from the first opening dinner held in Beijing, China, was to include Caviar, Creativity and Beverage in every dinner they organize. To become a member is quite simple, all you have to do is to organize and pay for a dinner for six members in the society which must include the executive or founding gourmet and their spouses. The dinner must have a caviar dish and meet the high standards of the club. The caviar dish was made compulsory because it was an exclusive item that enhanced the society’s prestige.

From three members when it first started, the society now has 298 members with nine branches in Thailand, Malaysia, Bali, Singapore, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Mexico, and Abu Dhabi.
