COLOSSAL PERFORMANCE AT SERENITY BEACH NIKKO BALI RESORT AND SPA

Kecak Dance

Wednesday, August 26th marked another outstanding performance by Nikko Bali Resort and Spa. As part of the Nikko Bali Cultural Appreciation Nights, the resort presented a magnificent performance to conclude the August program. This event was the fourth annual event dedicated to the arts of sounds and movements of Bali. Beginning in 2006 as part of the resorts 10th annual anniversary, it is a way of keeping traditions alive; supporting the creativity of the local community and the professional traditional Balinese dancers on the island.

The opening ceremony of the program was held on August 5th by featuring 5 dance maestros of Bali, continued with the Best of Bali performance by Ladies Gong Kebyar on August 12th, and Gending Rare, performed by all children musicians and dancers on August 19th. As the closing ceremony, a colossal performance of Ramayana dance featured in the classic Kecak dance was brought to the Serenity Beach of the resort. The highlight of this final show was the number of dancers performing. Nikko Bali Resort and Spa went the whole nine yards by bringing 200 and more dancers to perform on that night, making the classic dance even grander than it usually is.

After a brief opening speech and the lighting of the torch by the General Manager, Jean-Charles Le Coz, the guests were enthralled by the sheer number of performers. Dancers moved gracefully across the stage to the repeated chant of ‘kecak’, creating a beautiful harmony of sounds and movement, a truly amazing display of Balinese art and culture.

Ending with a round of applause from the audience, the 2009 Nikko Bali Cultural Appreciation Nights has made another mark for the resort. It continues its significant presence within the luxury hospitality industry in the Nusa Dua area, by preserving the arts and tradition of Bali. Look forward to the next Cultural Appreciation Nights only at Nikko Bali Resort and Spa.

DAILY INDULGENCE AT THE DELI NIKKO BALI RESORT AND SPA

Pampering oneself sometimes simply means sitting back, relax, enjoying a cup of coffee with a sweet pastry or even indulge yourself in a chocolaty treat and letting the day goes by. Nikko Bali Resort and Spa recently added a self pampering facility for its guests at the Lobby level just in front of their new Benkay Japanese Restaurant.

Selection of freshly brewed coffees – provided by the well-known Illy Coffee – are available on your request, with refreshing teas and herbal teas up to fine wines are served daily from morning until late. Freshly baked muffins, cookies and sweet pastries are displayed in the most tempting way. If you are a true chocolate admirer then you’d be pleased with the various pralines they have for you, choose from the innocent looking white chocolate pralines to the sinfully delights of Baileys filled pralines.

Any reason you have, there are many ways to pamper yourself but why choose the ordinary when you can do it another STEP UP at The Deli of Nikko Bali Resort and Spa.

THE LIVING LEGENDS PERFORMED AT NIKKO BALI CULTURAL APPRECIATION NIGHTS

Nikko Bali Resort and Spa had the honor of welcoming 5 maestros of Balinese dance to the opening night of Nikko Bali Cultural Appreciation Nights, held at Kupu Kupu Amphitheatre on Wednesday, August 5th, 2009.

After an opening speech by Dewa Rucika, Executive Assistant Manager of Nikko Bali Resort and Spa, and the governor representative, the guests were amazed with the opening performance by Ni Jero Puspawati. She took the stage with such grace and harmonious movements with her infamous Candra Metu dance. While enjoying the rich tasting and varieties of Balinese cuisine prepared by Nikko Bali’s skillful chefs, another Bali maestro, Ni Jero Gadung took the stage with the Wiranatha dance – a beautiful dance telling the story of a warrior’s journey.

The never ending applause continued as Gusti Ayu Raka Rasmi performed a cheerful dance of Oleg Temulilingan, followed by a performance by Ni Ketut Arini with her Terunajaya dance, the story of a man’s journey into becoming an adult with her unique and dynamic movements. The highlight of the night was the spectacular Kebyar Duduk dance performed by Ida Bagus Oka Wirjana, or famously known as Gus Aji Blangsinga. The mood of the dance was strongly felt from the music and the dancer, who works in close coordination with the entire gamelan to interpret its shifting color.

To conclude the event, the management of Nikko Bali Resort and Spa honored these maestros with a flower bouquet and honorary certificates. These were presented by the management representative and governor’s representative. Audience also had the chance to take photos with them on the beautifully decorated stage.

This event is the fourth annual cultural event held at Nikko Bali Resort and Spa. It will continue throughout August with more performances from the artists of Bali. Look forward to seeing the performance of Gending Rare, Ladies Gong Kebyar and the infamous Kecak dance performed by 200 and more dancers, as the closing ceremony on August 26th. Another STEP UP for Nikko Bali Resort and Spa and the preservation of Bali’s rich culture.
