AWARDS DINNER OF NIKKO BALI RESORT & SPA TENNIS CLASSIC AND BALI TENNIS ACADEMY CHAMPIONSHIP 2008

Nikko Bali Resort & Spa recently held a successful week-long event especially for local tennis enthusiasts. The Nikko Bali Resort & Spa Tennis Classic and BTA Championship 2008 saw registered entrants participate in an exciting knock-out competition in an attempt to win a generous cachet of prizes. Over 150 players turned out of this event.

The event concluded with a gala presentation dinner held in Nikko Bali’s elegant Graha Sawangan Ballroom, which saw members of Bali’s tennis community gather together to enjoy a sumptuous international buffet. At various intervals throughout the evening we presented awards to tournament winners for the adult and junior singles and doubles match categories. Every winner and runner-up received a stylish engraved glass commemoration plate as well as a sports or racquet bag. There were also token cash prizes for specific match categories.

After dinner entertainment was a stunning cabaret as well as traditional performance from East Nusa Tenggara. Attractive lucky door prizes of dinner and spa vouchers from different sponsoring companies were drawn during the evening. The highlight was a grand prize of return airline tickets to Kuala Lumpur and accommodation at Hotel Nikko Kuala Lumpur for one very lucky winner.



COURTSIDE COCKTAIL PARTY TO MARK THE OPENING OF NIKKO BALI RESORT & SPA TENNIS CLASSIC AND BTA CHAMPIONSHIP 2008

Nikko Bali Resort & Spa and Bali Tennis Academy (BTA) jointly hosted a cocktail party on October 17, 2008 at the hotel's tennis courtside. The party coincides with the opening of the Nikko Bali Resort & Spa Tennis Classic and BTA championship 2008.

This cocktail party started at 5:00 pm and ended around 7:00 pm. There were about 150 attendees to the cocktail mostly tennis players as well as supporters. Finger food and drinks were served during the evening and the opening games started shortly after.

This week long tennis tournament – in single and double match categories - is open to adults and children alike.  The "open" category winner will receive Rp. 6'000'000 of cash money. All registered entrants are eligible to win from among the generous pool of prizes which will be raffled - including a return trip to Kuala Lumpur together with two nights stay at Hotel Nikko Kuala Lumpur - on the occasion of Award Dinner on October 25, 2008 at Graha Sawangan Ballroom at the Nikko Bali Resort & Spa. 

Entrance to this sporting event is complimentary for spectators. It will certainly be a great week out for tennis enthusiasts!

TUMPEK KRULUT CEREMONY, 4 OCTOBER 2008

On this day, Balinese Hindu is make offerings to the musical instruments, masks, and dance costumes. The instruments and other paraphernalia are decorated with coconut leaf offerings, and holy water is sprinkled over them. Sometimes the members of the group that uses the instruments and the costumes and masks gather to pray and be blessed also. There is some variation to this practice. In some parts of Bali, Tumpek Krulut is ignored.

Nikko Bali Resort & Spa Tennis Classic and Bali Tennis Academy Championship have been scheduled to take place from 17 th until 25 th October 2008. This week long tennis tournament – in single and double match categories - is open to adults and children alike. All registered entrants are eligible to win from among the various prizes which will be raffled.

Entrance for the tournament is just Rp. 110.000 - for Adult Single, Rp. 180.000 - for Adult Double, Rp. 95.000 – for Junior Single and Rp. 120.000 – for Junior Double. This fee covers entitles participants to get an official tournament polo shirt.

The tournament will officially open with a courtside cocktail party for registered tournament participants on Friday, 17 th October 2008 from 05:00 pm onwards. A selection of refreshments will be available at the kiosk situated near the tennis grand stand.

Closing ceremonies will be held on Saturday, 25 th October 2008 and an award dinner will be held featuring a sumptuous international buffet and free flow of beverages. EID-UL-FITR DAY 1 SYAWAL 1429 HIJRAH, 1 -2 OCTOBER 2008

The Eid-Ul-Fitr is the Moslem holiday that follows the blessed month of Ramadan and falls on the 1st day of Shawwal, the 10th month in the Hijra calendar. Moslems are encouraged to dress in their best clothes, new if possible and attend a special community prayer in the morning, and visit friends and relatives.

Eid-ul-Fitr in Indonesia called Hari Raya Idul Fitri or Lebaran.
Mass prayers are held in mosques and large open areas around the country. Celebrated with the traditional dish ketupat and visiting with family and friends. Charity donations ( amal) are traditionally given at this time. Begging of forgiveness for any transgressions or slights in the past year is expressed during visits, Mohon Maaf Lahir dan Batin. In urban areas halal-bihalal (mutual begging of pardon) gatherings are held.
