NIKKO BALI CULTURE APPRECIATION NIGHTS AUGUST 2008
Nikko Bali Resort & Spa takes great pleasure to announce that 3rd Nikko Bali Culture Appreciation Nights have been scheduled for the entire month of August. This is an initiative by the resort to help showcase Bali’s unique artistic legacy to an international audience by presenting performances by some of the island’s finest dancers and musicians.
Nikko will treat guests’ to a festive evening of Balinese entertainment and authentic cuisine. Upon arrival guests’ will be greeted with a tropical welcome drink, complimentary Indonesian snacks and presented with a batik sarong, fan for the ladies and traditional cloth headdress for the men to wear. Additional mementos of the evening include a program booklet and CD of Balinese instrumental music. A sumptuous buffet of local delicacies such as suckling roast pig, Balinese style roasted duck (Bebek Betutu) and many others will later be served taking dinners on a culinary journey across the island of Bali.
The Nikko Bali Culture Appreciation Nights August 2008 will be held every day, excluding Sundays at the Kupu-Kupu Amphitheatre, start from 07:00 pm to 09:30 pm. For these occasions various parts of the resort will be decorated in a Balinese theme with indigenous fabrics, ceremonial flags and umbrellas. The amphitheatre environment will also adopt the ambience of a traditional village with artist demonstrations.
Nikko Bali Resort & Spa will commence this month long extravaganza with a grand opening ceremony featuring Indonesian Institute of Arts with a special performance by renowned dancing maestro Mrs. Ni Ketut Arini Alit S.St. This gifted artist, who has dedicated her life to the evolution of Balinese dance by performing around the world, will present a collection of popular traditional dances.
Following the official opening, every Monday will feature the Kecak dance – a famous Balinese sacred dance, with chanting in beautiful and hypnotic rhythm. Every Tuesday, will present Balinese classical and created dances by Indonesian Institute of Arts, Denpasar. The Magical Barong Dance will be featured every Wednesday. The Thursday night performance will feature the unique sounds of Jegog Bamboo music on oversized bamboo instruments that the musicians physically sit upon. The living legend, Mrs. Ni Ketut Arini will perform every Friday. Alternatively; the Saturday cultural evenings will be highlighted by a selection of dance and music performances by children who were competition winner from the recent Bali Art Festival.
