The Ambassador of Mexico and The Ambassador of Russia for the Republic of Indonesia, Senior Minister for the Environment of Cambodia, and Finance Minister of Indonesia visited Nikko Bali Resort & Spa. The purpose of their visit was related with The United Nation Framework Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC) which was held in Bali International Convention Center, Nusa Dua from 03 – 14 December 2007.

NIKKO BALI RESORT & SPA HOST THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA

The President of The Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono with The First Lady, Mrs. Ani Bambang Yudhoyono together with his delegation stayed at Nikko Bali Resort & Spa from 03 – 06 December 2007. The purpose of his visit was monitoring The United Nation Framework Climate Change Conference which is held in Bali International Convention Center, Nusa Dua from 03 – 14 December 2007.

On this official visit, Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was also accompanied by Mr. Widodo A.S ( Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs), Mr. Ir. Jero Wacik, S.E. (Minister of Culture and Tourism), Mr. Ir. Hatta Radjasa (Minister/State Secretary), Mr. Sudi Silalahi (Cabinet Secretary), as well as Mr. Andi Mallarangeng and Mr. Dino Patti Djalal as presidential spokesmen.

THE LAUNCHING OF BALI HOTEL’S SECURITY MANAGER ASSOCIATIONS

Bali Hotel’s Associations (BHA) successfully conducted the launching of Bali Hotel’s Security Manager Association (BHSMA). The event was hosted by the Nikko Bali Resort & Spa on 29 November 2007.

The event was attended by 80 invitees from security manager of all BHA’s member as well as Mr. Michael Burchett (Chairman of BHA), Mr. Djinaldi Gosana (Executive Director of BHA) and Mr. Kevin Whitson of US Embassy. The inauguration of BHSMA’s committee was done by Police Inspector General Paulus Purwoko (The Chief of Bali Regional Police) with the following structure:

EID-UL-ADHA (MOSLEM DAY OF SACRIFICE), 20TH DECEMBER 2007

The celebration of Eid-Ul-Adha this year is 31 st December 2006. This very important Muslim holiday is celebrated at the end of Hajj, which is an annual pilgrimage to Mecca. The ‘Festival of Sacrifice’ is followed by a ‘Feast of Sacrifice’, which pays homage to the prophet Abraham’s unselfish act of sacrificing his son, Ishmael, to God. In turn, God spared the boy’s life and instead substituted a sheep. Now in remembrance, people sacrifice a lamb, goat, or other animal, and give the meat to family, friends, relatives, and most importantly, the poor.

CHRISTMAS DAY, 25TH DECEMBER 2007

Christmas Day is annual holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus. It is traditionally observed on 25 th December, though some Eastern Orthodox Churches celebrate it on 7 th January, which corresponds to 25 th December of the Julian Calendar. Christmas has many aspects, both religious and secular, including the exchange of gifts, Santa Claus, decoration and display of the Christmas Tree, and religious ceremonies.

TUMPEK UDUH, SATURDAY 29 DECEMBER 2007

Tumpek Uduh also known as Tumpek Wariga or Tumpek Pengatag devoted to Sanghyang Sangkara, Lord of all food - plants when blessing ceremony is given to them for good crops and products, held at every plantation and farm throughout the island. It is a ritual ceremony dedicated to the vegetations. On that day Balinese Hindu pray to give instruction/suggestion for the vegetation to provide a lot of food (fruits, leaves, etc). It enables the Balinese to make any preparation to hail Galungan Day that will come in a few weeks ahead. It comes once in every six months or every 210 days, suggesting the Balinese to worship God Sangkara the God of Vegetation. It’s a right time to beg the God to give His grace so the vegetation can provide a lot of crops.
