TURTLE RELEASE AT NIKKO BALI RESORT & SPA
Three turtles have laid their eggs at the Nikko Bali Resort & Spa beach, Nusa Dua. The first laid on June 18 and the other on July 6, 2007. It is estimated that there are no less than 100 eggs each time the turtle lays eggs. As a protection from poachers, the sand grounds around where the eggs were laid were surrounded with fence and will be opened once the hatchlings come out between August 3 – 13 and the next batch is expected to hatch around August 21 – 31, 2007. The ground will be monitored by the hotel staff who will ensure that the hatchlings instinctively proceed safely into the nearby ocean where they will live thereafter. It is said that turtles lay eggs on clean and serene sandy shores.
The safe release of the hatchlings is in line with the hotel’s continuing contribution of preserving and conserving the natural environment. Last year, Nikko Bali Resort & Spa in cooperation with the Mitra Bahari foundation have likewise initiated the replanting of various corals in the vicinity shores.
