Time to Give Back

Nikko Bali Resort and Spa gives back to the local community through scholarship programs

CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) was first introduced back in the 60′s and 70′s where huge corporations and companies encouraged a positive impact through its activities that are strongly related to the surrounding environment and communities, its employees, consumers and even stakeholders. Interestingly enough, a similar concept has been applied in Balinese culture through a concept known as Tri Hita Karana. This concept embraces the positive relationship between humans and nature (surrounding environment), other human beings (community) and God (religious activities).

Nikko Bali Resort and Spa took both CSR and Tri Hita Karana to heart with various activities done together with the local community and at times for the benefit of Bali in general. For the local community, Nikko Bali Resort and Spa strongly supports the education of the local children through its annual program for the Sawangan elementary school. Each year, the resort donates school equipment, stationary and scholarships to the best three of each grade. This year will be the seventh annual program that will take place on June 12th.

Meanwhile, together with a local foundation and with the help of local communities, Nikko Bali Resort and Spa also performs weekly cleaning program at the beach, main road and surrounding areas, ensuring a clean and healthy environment – at the same time ‘teaching’ the way of ‘green’ living to the locals. Donations also made to support local activities both social and religious while visits to orphanage, senior houses and other foundations in need are also in the resort’s yearly agenda.

Taking a STEP UP this year, Nikko Bali Resort and Spa will invite its guests to participate in the programs. Mainly aimed at educational programs, guests can volunteer to teach English at the local school or other subjects that are required by the students. Meanwhile, Nikko Bali Resort and Spa is also in the process of developing a donation program to raise funds for education as well as to help the local community develops its resources.

This interactive program is planned to take place in July for the next term and donation program will commence immediately. Guests will soon be able to spend their holiday and do social activities at the same time. A STEP UP for Nikko Bali Resort and Spa, a STEP UP for social awareness on the Island of the Gods.
